The Platform for Dynamic Decisions Dashboards, Pd3, is a proprietary data visualization platform used to power some of Westat's survey performance dashboards. This platform powers many field operations and multi-mode dashboards at Westat.

Capabilities and Features
Context Driven
Data access is controlled by user type. Data displayed is filtered using project-specific framework such as regions, primary sampling units, mode, and field periods. This presents the user with a focused subset of relevant data that is specific to operations, processes, quality, production, or cost objectives.
At-A-Glance Design
Unusual data is easily identified due to the simplified design and common color coding, allowing users to quickly digest the information displayed.
Actionable Key Performance Indicators
The dashboard is subset into portlets designed to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs). Monitoring KPIs allows users insight into actionable changes that can improve results.
Interactive
The dashboard portlets are interactive allowing the data to be filtered, drilled into, manipulated, and exported.
The dashboard is addictive. I would get up, grab my coffee and review the dashboard first thing in the morning. All of my morning review was complete before I had even finished a cup.
Data Sources
Pd3 leverages Westat's Multi Mode Manager's (M3) data integration framework to provide context rich portlets based on standard Westat systems such as Basic Field Operating System, Survey Builder, Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing, Teleform, and BEST. Pd3 also incorporates ancillary metadata sources like Westat's mobile mFOS data, GIS data, Deltek time collection data, and Computer Assisted Recording Interviewing coding data.
Pd3 can be used on any project that incorporates M3 into its architecture. The platform is also available for other types of projects, though new development may be required if the data organization and sources are significantly new and different from the existing architecture.

Survey Performance Dashboard
Pd3 is Westat's proprietary dashboard platform that hosts a variety of Survey Performance Dashboards.
Field Supervisor Dashboard (FSD)
Developed to support Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) projects, the Field Operating Dashboard is designed to count production units, or cases, by various standard characteristics including: region, round, panel, mode, status, and interviewer. This standard dashboard is available for all projects that use Westat’s suite of CAPI applications, e.g., BFOS, mFOS, M3, CARI Code, and EAGLE.
Survey Manager Dashboard (SMD)
Developed for managing the progress of single and multi-mode survey studies, the Survey Manager Dashboard presents survey response rates, weekly counts, disposition counts, and more. Breaking data down by mode, protocol unit, and progress within the protocol, this dashboard enhances a project's ability to make critical, adaptive design decisions.
This dashboard has been deployed to support home office staff users as well as for client access.
Field Interviewer Dashboard (FID)
The Field Interviewer Dashboard helps field interviewers manage their cases and work them in an effective and efficient manner. The FID gives each field interviewer a new mapping tool and access to sophisticated case prioritization based on operational and methodological values. Data is now shared with the interviewers directly, allowing better insights into their own metrics and achievements. The FID makes key performance indicators accessible to field interviewers.
